It’s February which means that it’s National Library Lovers Month! February is the month that recognizes those who love everything that a library has to offer. Some ways to celebrate are giving a shoutout to your favorite library, checking out the other resources the library has to offer besides books, making a list of books and other media that you would like to eventually check out, renew or sign up for a library card, volunteer at your local library, and of course visiting the library! Libraries offer so many things to their communities such as educational entertainment for preschoolers, theatre, activities, music, art, and friendship. Communities rely on their libraries for meeting space for public forums, social gatherings, and fundraisers. Libraries provide resources for researching family and community heritage. Libraries lend other media than books like movies and music. They also offer digital resources for everyone in the community to use. For this month at the Big Sandy Library, we will have weekly happenings. We are continuing to have Power Hour every Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Every Monday we will have Board Game Time from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Every Tuesday we will have Robotics from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Every Wednesday we will have Story Time from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Every Thursday will have Art Hour from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Also every Thursday, we will have Play to Learn at 10:30 AM. Lastly, every Friday we will have Lego Club from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. For our non weekly happenings, we have an abundance of this to do. On Monday, February 6th at 7:00 PM there will be Book Club, the book will be “West With Giraffes” by Lynda Rutledge. On Thursday, February 9th from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, there will be Crochet Critters with Susan King, again on February 10th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and lastly on Thursday, February 16th from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Adult Craft will be Monday, February 13th from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. We will have a Valentine’s Party all day on Tuesday, February 14th. Book-A-Holic’s will be Friday, February 17th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Lastly, we will be closed Monday, February 20th for President’s Day.
