Joyce Marie (Terry) Brant

June 7, 2023

Joyce was born to Lowell and Helen (Collins) Terry on a farm near Fort Benton, Montana, on February

25, 1941. After her birth, the happy parents were surprised when her identical twin was born! When

they were little girls of six, Joyce and Janet heard and believed the good news that Jesus Christ died and

rose again to be their Savior. Janet went to heaven that very day. Grieving for her twin, Joyce was sure

that God had a purpose for her life. She passed away on May 17, 2023, in Spokane, Washington

after having lived the rest of her 82 years seeking to know Him and to honor Him in all she did.

Joyce was an active member of the Big Sandy Church of God during her high school years.

Joyce loved learning. After graduating from Big Sandy High School in 1959, she attended Dillon

College and became a schoolteacher, first in rural Montana, then in larger schools. Acquiring her MA at

Montana State University, and her Certificate of Administration, Joyce enjoyed evaluating curriculum

among her many other skills.

Joyce married Maynard Paul Brand on September 3, 1965 in the Kalispell Church of God. Much of

their early married life was spent in Libby. After teaching in Montana and Washington for several

years they relocated to Southern California, where they lived for 13 years. Joyce delighted in teaching, and

later became the principal of a private Christian school. Upon her retirement, they moved to Spokane.

Everywhere Joyce lived she served in her church as an education director. She loved it when children

understood new concepts.

We will always remember Joyce for her quick wit, ironic sense of humor, and her generous hospitality.

Joyce's husband of 51 years, Maynard, her son-in-law, Mark Huffaker, her parents, and her

siblings Janet, Robert, Kenneth, and Lucille all went ahead of her to glory. She leaves the legacy

of her loving children Michael (Lynn) Brant and Michelle Huffaker, grandchildren Steven Brant,

Alan Huffaker, and Anita (Tim) Ethell, and great granddaughter Saoirse Ethell. Also surviving are her

siblings, Floyd Terry, Big Sandy; Ruth Ann Paul and Frances Bogner, both of Canada.

Her immediate and extended family would like to express their deepest thanks to the many dear

friends and the staff at both Royal Park Care Centers for the wonderful care and love given to

Joyce, especially in the last five years. A celebration of Joyce's life will be held Saturday, July 1st at 10 am

at Trinity Baptist Church 6528 N Monroe St., Spokane, WA.
