Barracudas Ranked 6th in the Western Division It was a smoldering hot weekend in Chester July 22&23 as the Barracudas gave it their all in what was arguably the most important meet of the season. Only the top 12 placers from each event, division (mens or womens), and age group (8u, 11-12, 13-14, or 15-19) are eligible to continue on to state. The Barracudas had 24 kids in attendance and were able to rack up an impressive 390 points and earn a 6th place finish out of 9 total teams. T'Gan Ketchum was the lead man for the Barracudas, scoring 36 points on his way to 2nd place high point honors in the 9-10 mens division. With 34 points apiece Jai Baumann, Harley LaBuda, and Mackenzie Werk were also major contributors to the overall team score. Straight out of a week at extreme sport camp in California, sleep deprived Henry Merrill was able to put up an impressive 31 points. Astrid Ketchum also had another outstanding weekend in the lanes with 29. The icing on the cake of Cassia Butler's 11th birthday was securing 26 for the Barracudas. Raea Pansch lit up the lanes with 17 and Lila Butler was hot on her heels with 16. JaiLeiana Parker and D'Aree Sunchild rocked the blocks with 15 points each and Joseph Demontiney tallied 11. Kayden Parker and Darrell Sunchild came to compete and earned the team 10 points each. Sienna Butler and Velia Demontiney chipped in 6 each, Daijalin Sunchild 5, and Eden Pansch with 1 was the cherry on top of the end of the weekend-and the beginning of the Barracudas quest for gold at the Class B State Swim in Conrad July 29&30.
