A tremendous year for the Lady Pioneers

The Lady Pioneer volleyball team came up a little short this past weekend at the State tournament in Bozeman, but these girls have nothing to hang their heads about. They got to play in the Montana State University Fieldhouse against two tough teams (DGSG and Sulphur Springs) and worked very hard to get a win but just fell short. This team proved themselves time and time again this season and did so well every time they stepped on the court. Good job this season, ladies; hold your heads high; you should be very proud of yourselves!

Here are the team stats from the state tourney:

Game vs DGSG scores: 25-19, 22-25, 20-25, 22-25Digs:115, Assists: 35, Kills: 43, Blocks: 13, and Aces: 7.

Game vs Sulphur Springs scores: 19-25, 10-25, 24-26

Digs: 62, Assists: 19, Kills: 21, Blocks: 4, and Aces: 3

On her final thoughts, Coach Brittany said, "I am incredibly proud of this team for making it to the State Tournament after 27 years. We brought home the first-ever 1st-place Divisional Trophy, which was an amazing accomplishment. While things did not end the way we had hoped, I hope these girls remember all of the incredible memories that were made this season. They achieved so much as a team, and that's what makes me the most proud."

"I also want to mention that we collected more information on the history of Big Sandy volleyball. In 1990 and 1997, the Lady Pioneers got 2nd place in the Divisionals and qualified for the State Tournament. After 27 years, this was our 3rd appearance. There are a few conference championship trophies and some 2nd and 3rd place District and Divisional trophies, but this was the first time taking home a 1st place trophy from either Districts or Divisionals. I am sorry for the lack of knowledge on the history of Big Sandy Volleyball. Thank you to the alumni who reached out with information!"
