Pioneers vs. Rangers Big Sandy 8, Winnett-Grass Range 38

The Pioneers trailed the Rangers 16-8 at the end of the first quarter of Saturday's contest in Grass Range. Quinn Rodewald connected with Karter Jurenka on a deep touchdown to put Big Sandy on the scoreboard. Ultimately mistakes in all three phases to the game resulted in 24 straight points for the Rangers. The game ended at halftime after an injury to a Big Sandy player and a lightning delay put a pause to the action. Coaches for both teams concluded that the second half would not be played. The injured player sustained a severe concussion but was released from the hospital Saturday evening.

The Junior High team lost 43-28 to Grass Range in their game played prior to the varsity on Saturday. The Pioneers begin conference play this Friday at home against North Star at 7pm. They will look to get back in the win column this week.
