The Pioneers scored first after Wes Cox took the opening kick return deep into Mountaineer territory. Cox would finish off the drive on a short touchdown run. Highwood would answer on a long drive of their own making the score 8 to 6 Pioneers after one quarter of play. The Mountaineers would take the lead after they blocked a Big Sandy punt deep in Pioneer territory. Quinn Rodewald connected on a deep touchdown pass to Aiden Morsette late in the second quarter.
