Louis Anthony “Tony” Tebeau was born in St. Louis, MO on October 23, 1940, and passed away at the age of 85 in his home in Ulm, MT surrounded by his wife, Sandee, family and friends on October 29, 2025.
At 17, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea as a Counter Intelligence Specialist E4 with the 33rd Support Battalion. Later, he was transferred to Fort Lewis, WA where he continued living for 52 years and enjoyed a lifelong career in banking, serving as President and CEO of Washington State Bank. Tony and his first wife Sue, were blessed with two children, Tami and Bryan and made many friends over their years as a family in Washington.
Tony dearly loved Montana and dreamed of making it his home. He was a competitive trap shooter, avid hunter, fisherman, and historian. He was also known for regularly giving tours of Montana’s best to visiting friends and family. His story telling spanned both factual and historical points, as well as his own brand of creative tall tales. He felt honored that Montana accepted him as one of their own. Tony never met a stranger.
Tony is survived by his wife Sandee, his two children, Tami (Jim) Rivers of Renton, WA and Bryan (Mary) Tebeau of Bend, OR, and his four grandchildren, Lee Rivers and Jessica Rivers, Jackson Tebeau and Grant Tebeau as well as a vast extended family whom he loved very much. Tony was predeceased by his first wife, Susan Tebeau of Gig Harbor, WA. Due to his military service, Tony will be interred in the Yellowstone National Cemetery, Laurel, Montana. A Celebration of Life service is being planned for June 2026 in Big Sandy, MT.
