February 4-H meeting

This month’s meeting started with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Austin and the 4-H pledge led by Paxton, followed by roll call with the question, “What is your favorite part of Valentines?” After the 4-H reports we played “Chairs”, led by Chaz and Gabe. The winner got a gift card to Taco Bell, which Colt won. Members voted to decide who will be the recipient of the money earned from the “Egg My Yard” fundraiser. This month we listened to a presentation on “Market Animal Selection, Nutrition, and Rations” by Julia Dafoe from the Northern Ag Research Center. Her information was very helpful to members taking livestock projects. It will help us choose the correct animal and develop the best feed rations for a successful market animal project. While we were watching the livestock presentation, Bailey L. led the Cloverbuds in making slime. It looked like they had fun!! Parker gave an archery report and updated the club about what we are doing at the Sunday night practices and talked about the upcoming county archery competition at the end of February. Finally, we wrapped the meeting up by making Valentines cards for the Big Sandy Nursing Home. Each 4-H family also brought a homemade card to the community members living at the Big Sandy Activity Center. The January/February talks and demos from the 4-Hers and Cloverbuds are listed below.
