Douglas “Doug” Giebel, 89, of Big Sandy, Montana, passed away at his home on July 28, 2026. He left behind a remarkable legacy as an educator, theater director, actor, writer, historian and lifelong advocate for the arts.
Born and raised in Big Sandy, Doug was the only child of Ed and Fern Giebel. His imagination was nurtured by devoted parents, books, music and movies. As a child he staged backyard circuses. As a young man he discovered theater.
