Every Sunday afternoon at 2pm, the Big Sandy Cultural Center will show a free Hollywood movie beginning October 5th, then on October 12th and every Sunday thereafter. the Center has 600 films, from classic silents by Chaplin and others, great westerns, comedies, musicals, concerts and dance performances. The Big Sandy Medical Center continues to see growth, change, and improvements. The Rural Health Clinic has been in it’s own building for right around a year now. Ultrasound services are available at the Medical Center. Patient directed testing, where you can get labs drawn without a doctor’s order, is available. Amber Groves, PA joined the team as a full-time provider. The addition for the CT building is in progress with expected completion by next spring. David Melvin Kidd, 81, passed into eternal rest on October 2nd, 2025, at home near Summertown, TN with his beloved wife, Christina, by his side. David was born on April 19th, 1944, to Donald and Ina Rose (Duncan) Kidd in Conrad, MT. He enjoyed his early years on the farm at Alma north of Joplin where he was active in 4-H and raised award winning heifers. The Big Sandy Youth Group Halloween Food Drive is fast approaching and this year’s drive will see a number of changes. The annual event will still involve youth group kids trick-or-treating door-to-door for food donations and will take place on October 29th starting around 5:30 and running as late as 8. The program provides food for Christmas and Thanksgiving meals as well as Christmas gifts for the kids of needy Chouteau County families.
