Pioneers fall to Fort Benton, Chinook in 9C action

The Pioneer boys and girls basketball teams each suffered a pair of District 9C losses over the weekend.

Friday the teams made the trip to Fort Benton to face the Longhorns.

The girls fell 52-17 with freshman Jaylyn Cline leading the team with five points in the contest.

The boys fell in their contest with the Longhorns by a score of 46-20.

Junior Laurence Allderdice led the Pioneers offensively with 13 points.

Saturday the teams hosted the Chinook Sugarbeeters with similar results.

Senior Maddy Reichelt drained a long three and sophomore Jessica Roth scored inside as Chinook led just 8-5 midway through the first. From them on though it went the way of the visitors as Chinook won the game, 50-18.

Reichelt led the team with 7 points.

The boys fell behind early as Chinook led 22-2 after eight minutes en route to a 75-23 win over the Pioneers.

Sophomore Jamesy Belcourt scored nine points for Big Sandy while Pioneer eighth grader Ryan Roth added seven points for the Pioneer offense.

The girls fall to 1-8 in conference play and the boys stand at 0-9.

The Pioneers will host the Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds Friday as the girls will look to pick up their second win of the season.

Saturday the teams will hit the road to take on the Denton/Geyser/Stanford Bearcats on a non-conference tilt.
