The Big Sandy Pioneer girls and boys basketball teams concluded 2016 with a pair of contests against the Denton-Geyser-Stanford Bearcats and the Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds.
The girls played step for step with D-G-S early on trailing just 8-11 after eight minutes of action, but the Bearcats kept adding to the lead bit by bit en-route to a 51-28 win over Big Sandy.
Wednesday the girls faced the Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds and played very well start to finish. Sophomore Jaylyn Cline poured in 28 points but the Pioneers fell short in the end falling 63-54.
