Christmas Eve Services a Gift Given at Christmas

December 19, 2018

When we talk about what gifts we got, we hardly remember the physical gifts given to us over the years. When we talk about what kind of gifts we want to give we talk about making time for loved ones, laughter, security, family, and hope and peace. During interviewing about Christmas memories, the conversation with Larry Bitz turned to what gifts he would like to give. "Christmas for me is a season. It wows me. It overwhelms me. I love the message of the music of the season. If I could give a gift I would make the miracle of Christmas, the birth of Jesus, a reality to a million people. So rather than being pushed aside they would understand the gift and how it will impact their daily lives."

The story of Christmas is found in Luke Chapter two. Six local churches will be having Christmas Eve Candlelight Services; Big Sandy Church of God will have services at 7:00 PM; Grace Lutheran will start at 4:00; Christ Lutheran will start at 5:30, and Saint Margaret Mary's Catholic Church will hold Christmas Eve services at 5:00; Box Elder's Saint Anthony will start at 7:00 and Saint Mary's Catholic Church will have services at 10:00.

If you have never participated in a Christmas Eve services it is always moving. Candlelight services are generally held at night, and are intended to be a way to quietly reflect and pray together about God's gift.
