Solid Finance$

The basics of money management – you make money to spend money. However, eventually, we figure out there is more to money management than making and spending. Whether it be stretching the dollar further, saving, investing, borrowing and/or protecting our earnings, we are faced with making financial decisions daily. Some decisions are easier than others and we may not always make the right decisions.

To help with the decision making, there are some trusted, unbiased resources you may want to be aware of. These include mymoney.gov, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Smart About Money and, do not forget about, MSU Extension. These sources have an abundance of information available online or options for ordering hard copies of the material.

There is an additional no-cost resource I want to make you aware of. MSU Extension partners with North Dakota State University Extension to offer Solid Finance$ webinars. These live webinars can be accessed online in the convenience of your home or, if you do not have access to a computer, contact your local library or the MSU Extension office for options of watching the webinars. The 2019-2020 series runs October 30 through March 11, on most Wednesdays from 12:05 to 12:55 pm.

The Solid Finance$ schedule is available at solidfinances.msuextension.org. The topic areas include Home Buying, Renting vs Buying, Extension Resources, Retirement Planning, Paying for College, Federal Financial Aid and Student Loans, Finances and Stress and Estate Planning. You will need to register once to view the live webinars. In case you cannot listen in on Wednesdays, the resources and recordings from the past webinars, including previous years, are also available at the solidfinances.msuextension.org website.

If you need any resources printed or have questions, contact Janell at the Chouteau County Extension Office at 622-3036, janellb@montana.edu or in the green building next to the Chouteau County Courthouse at 1308 Franklin St in Fort Benton.
