Boy's Locker Room gets new lockers

The Big Sandy Booster club has finished a special project just in time for Pioneer Football! Rich Jespersen, Special Project Manager for new lockers in the boy's locker room, had the lockers delivered to his home, where he assembled everyone by hand. In the meantime, the locker room itself needed to be gutted and painted.

With the help of Coach Thomas Dilworth and some Pioneer Boys, Rich Jespersen removed the old lockers, which was not an easy project, as they were old, rusty, and heavy. There was also an old cage that needed removing as well. Other booster club members painted the walls and ceiling. Before he could place the lockers into their new place, he had to build a base to place them on. The pioneer boys help Rich deliver the new lockers, and they are now ready for use.

The Booster Club has been discussing a few more ideas, and committees have been formed. They would like to add a few activities to the Chili Feed. They are visiting with students about a Halloween Carnival.

They also talked about decorating lockers for Jr high/high school and grade school athletes/ band, choir, and FFA.

I mention ideas that are being discussed because it shows their commitment to our students and community. Ideas like Dinner and Movie night

on the field, a chain-link fence on the south end of the field, license plate covers, cups for a fence, wooden football, and basketballs to be used to support athletes along the streets are being discussed. Photo buttons are used in other communities, and some would love for Big Sandy to have them. How about signing and raffling sports balls. Another idea would be new padded Pioneer chairs for basketball players, school signs along the highway, the padding on the walls at the end of the basketball courts, a spirit club, Ice cream Social, a winter kick-off (not just a fall kick-off, and junior high sports recognition.

Connect the Big Sandy Booster club if you would like to see any of these ideas come to fruition. They have a Facebook page.
