The Senior Center is full every morning with a large group of coffee drinkers.
Big Sandy Senior Center and the Board of Directors will be having a public meeting for its membership, patrons age 50 and older. It will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 5:00 pm. There have been many questions and concerns. At this meeting, you'll be able to ask your questions and express your concerns.
According to the contract signed, the Big Sandy Senior Center cannot close before June 2022. Therefore, we have three months to try and find a way for the center to become viable in the future.
At this time, the board is not in favor of terminating anyone; however, one has put in her notice. Therefore, they are one cook short.
The board has taken steps to try and eliminate any unnecessary spending and has hired Wipfli to come in and do an audit of sorts of the Centers Quick Books to determine where spending can be eliminated or brought under control. Quick Books needs to be organized so that it can give appropriate reports. This will be accomplished in April.
There have been a lot of rumors and accusations circling around town due to misinformation, emotions, and concerns. Answers are being sought.
