A Small Big Sandy team still does their best

April 27, 2022

Freshman, Jenny Sant putting in her best at the 100 hurdles.

On a cold, windy day in Choteau, Montana, 24 schools attended a track meet. It was well attended because a track meet was not canceled. Although the Pioneers didn't have anyone running in the 100 meters, just to let you know how huge the meet was, 89 high school boys ran in the event. Big Sandy was missing a large portion of their team while participating in the Music Festival in Havre. Others traveled to Bozeman to watch Kade Strutz play in the Bobcat gray and gold scrimmage.

Freshman, Kaya Demontiney, jumping the long jump at the Choteau meet.

In the 100, 53 girls were running. Eva Wagoner, Jenny Sant, and Carmen Tan ran their fastest in the 100. In fact, it was an excellent meet for getting PRs (Personal Records).

Eva Wagoner won 1st in the 100m hurdles with her fastest time this year of 17.5.

In the Javelin, Wylee Snapp took 10th out of 89!! He and Sonny Phillips got PRs in the long jump.

There were 53 girls in the Javelin, with Haley Schwenke and Eva Yeadon getting their PRs.

There were 44 girls in the long jump, and both Kaya Demontiney and Malaysia Baumann jumped their best yet this year.

Alex Worrall took 5th in the mile and 4th in the 800 meters for her PR in the 800!

Kaya Demontiney ran the 200 meters for her PR.

So although the Pioneers were small in number, there were 12 PRs earned! Great effort! Congratulations!
