June 15, 2022

One of the most incredible things about watching little swimmers make it down the 25-meter race is the huge smile on Coach Travis Bauman. I smiled at him, and he said, "How can you not smile!" Only 14 swimmers of the Big Sandy Baracuda swim team attended the Chinook Swim meet. Twelve swimmers made it to the finals on Sunday. It was a beautiful day. Most everyone swimming improved their times.

Henry Merrill and D'Aree Sunchild won high point for their age group. Henry shared first place with two boys from Lewistown, and D'Aree shared first place with a girl from Chinook. Jai Baumann took first place in the 50-meter Fly at 42.18, an improvement of .56 seconds. Henry Merrill also took first place in the 50-meter Fly at 42.19, an improvement of 1.83 seconds. Henry also took first place in the 50-meter free swimming in 36.39 faster by 1.41 seconds. We had two take first in the backstroke. D'Aree Sunchild won with 29.44 in the 25 back, and Mackenzie Werk won first in the 50 meters back, winning with 49.61.

Dorothea Merrill improved her 50 free by 5 seconds. Levon Myers had his best swim meet ever. He improved by 6 seconds taking 3rd in the 100-meter free. Both Pansch girls, Eden and Rhea, improved by 4 seconds each. Kayden Parker improved his 25 free by 4 seconds also. Dolan Sunchild moved from 3rd to 2nd place in the 50 Back finals.
