Boyd Elton Romine

On the evening of June 19, 2022, Boyd Elton Romine died at the age of 90. Boyd was born on August 18, 1931, in Rugby, North Dakota to William and Melvie Romine. In 1951, Boyd joined the Army and spent two years in the service and was stationed in Okinawa. He received his Bachelor of Science from the Minot State Teachers College in 1956 and his Master's Degree from the University of North Dakota in 1962.

Boyd married Judy Momerak in June of 1957. Together they raised three children, Bill, Andy and Jodi. The Romine family lived in Newton, North Dakota, Outlook, Montana, and Big Sandy, Montana. The Romine's lived in Big Sandy for much of their married life. The family enjoyed many outdoor activities, including camping, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and boating in Montana over the years. Boyd was the Superintendent of Schools at Big Sandy until he retired in 1986. After retiring, Boyd spent his time custom combining for the Williams Brothers and guiding hunters at Faber's Ranch.


In 1995, Boyd and Judy moved to Wasilla, Alaska, to be closer to their children and grandchildren; Bill and Andy, and soon after, their daughter Jodi and her growing family. During their time in Alaska, Boyd and Judy enjoyed spending time with family both in Anchorage and Fairbanks. Boyd was an enthusiastic hunter and was particularly proud of his 68" moose, taken at Montana Creek on a hunt with his boys. He also loved to be busy and worked endlessly on cabin projects, mowing the lawn and plowing the snow. Boyd lived with his son, Andy, for the past 8 years in Anchorage. He was a master rummy player and great storyteller, and constant companion to Jaeger, Andy and Nina's yellow lab.


Boyd is proceeded in death by his wife, Judy, his sister, Jeanette Mygland, and his nephew, Michael Mygland. He is survived by his children Bill Romine of Anchorage, AK, Andy (Nina) Romine of Anchorage, AK, and Jodi (Will) Irvine of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Dean (Laura) Romine of Portland, OR, Beau Romine of Anchorage, AK, Hannah Irvine of Costa Mesa, CA, and Sheridan Irvine of Richmond, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.

No public services will be held, but please enjoy an MGD in his honor!
