Pioneer Volleyball splits the week

September 21, 2022

ven new volleyball enthusiasts can see a difference in the Pioneers. Michael Wright said, " The Pioneer's home game against the CJI was an exciting but tough match-up. Even though the Lady Pioneers lost all three sets, they kept the scores very close and played hard. What is very admirable is that the teammates on the Pioneers were always encouraging each other and cheered together every time they made a point. They proved that volleyball is a team effort and that they depend on each other to get the ball on the other side of the net.

Coach McKenney said, "We had a tough loss against CJI on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, I was unable to be at the game, which was extremely difficult. Watching from a screen proved to be challenging. We did

some good things, but overall we did not play to our full potential."

Big Sandy vs. CJI Winner: CJI (21-25, 20-25, 20-25)

Team Stats: Digs: 53, Assists: 23,Kills: 29, Blocks: 7, Aces: 5

Individual Leader: Digs: 14 - Jai Baumann, Assists: 21 - Jai Baumann, Kills: 11 - Keira Galbavy, Blocks: 5 - Keira Galbavy, Aces: 3 - Eva Wagoner

Again I liked Michaels's comments, "the Lady Pioneers had a home game against Hays/Lodgepole for a fun, doubleheader match-up. In the first three sets, the Pioneers dominated Hays in victory. Every player on the team played well and showed heart in their team effort. Then the next set of games was a little more competitive and fun to watch. It is evident that the Lady Pioneer's skills in volleyball are improving every time they play and that they are very confident in what they're doing."

Coach McKenney said about playing Hays, "We had a doubleheader against Hays and won both matches in 3 sets. This was a good way for us to get right back on track. We are continuing to work on our weaknesses, and I believe we are getting better each day."
