Two Incredible Win for the Lady Pioneers

October 11, 2023

Brittany McKenney Big Sandy Pioneer Volleyball coach said, "This past week was huge for our team! We beat Fort Benton on their home court, which was an exciting first for us. Our girls busted their butts, and it paid off. The next night we beat Highwood in a clean sweep on our Senior Night. Overall, it was a successful week and I am very proud of these girls. While we still have plenty to improve on, I'm excited about where we are at. We only have 3 matches left, before tournament time! We are currently 9-2 and sitting 2nd in the Conference! This is by far the highest ranking we've been this late in the season."

When the Lady Pioneers played the Lady Longhorns you could sense the competitive drive and intensity in the air when these two teams stepped on the court. In the first set, Fort Benton went up early scoring a quick 4 points, but after some quick hustle plays and a comeback mentality, Big Sandy clawed their way back in, trading points with Fort Benton, until they took the lead at 18-16. The Lady Pioneers won the first set 25-22.

The second set also started with The Lady Longhorns in front. The Lady Pioneers found themselves down 6 points at one point but did their best to come back, but fell short in the 2nd set and lost 21-25.

The 3rd set was all the Lady Pioneers, they took the lead early and never looked back, going from up 7 points, showing their true grit and battling when Fort Benton came within one. But the Lady Pioneers took the 3rd set, winning 25-20.

The 4th set was very intense with aggressive play from both teams. This set was back and forth the entire time, literally trading points back and forth. The Lady Pioneers started to pull away at the 14th point mark, taking the lead 18-11. The Lady Longhorns did their best, but the Lady Pioneers came out on top with a score of 25-21.
