HELENA, MT — In observance of National Falls Prevention Awareness Week (Sept. 21–25, 2026), the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) is encouraging Montanans to assess their fall risk factors and take simple, proactive steps to prevent injury.
According to DPHHS officials, one in three Montanans aged 65 and older has experienced a fall in the past 12 months. In 2025 alone, unintentional falls led to more than 19,000 emergency department visits across the state.
