Big Sandy's Postmaster, Amanda Hoffman, is one of our new school board trustees. Kyle Danreuther is the other one and will be featured next week.

Amanda has worked for the Postal Service for eight years. First, she was a clerk at the Havre post office, the low man on the totem pole, before she was transferred to Harlem for a year and a half. She was driving to work from Big Sandy three to four times a week. She was transferred back to Havre and worked as a supervisor there for about a year. She was transferred to Big Sandy in January 2024. And this is where she wants to stay. "The kids are in school here, and they love it."

Her husband's name is Chase Hoffman. Their first daughter is Kara, and she is in the fifth grade. Aliyah, their second daughter, is in third grade. They have lived in Big Sandy for 11 years. They moved to Big Sandy from Bozeman. "We chose Big Sandy because it's a small community. Honestly, it wasn't even on our radar at the beginning. She had been transferred here to work with Walmart. We looked at a house here and fell in love with the house and with the community! I said, 'This is where we're raising our kids.' We're both from small towns. I'm from Boulder, and Chase is from Wolf Point. So we're small-town people.

We both really enjoy it here, and I wouldn't change it for the world. I love it here. I love how

the community rallies around people when they need it. I love the pride that's here. I love the fact that people come out for things. It's one of the things Amanda says: her in-laws love Big Sandy. How many people are supportive? How many people show up for the kids?

Amanda has been one of the Big Sandy play directors since the start. She loves theater and was involved in it at high school. She believes in being involved with the community. It's important.

Amanda was asked by a few people to consider running for the school board. Because she believes in giving back to the community, which is important, she decided to run. However, because only two decided to run for a trustee position, she was automatically a new Big Sandy School Board Trustee. "The school clerk told me there was lots of training available for trustees. Believe me, I'll be taking every course I can!"
