The Variety Show held June 12, 2016, as a fundraiser for the new library was a big success, bringing in $1500 from the generous crowd. The program was filled with wonderful home-town talent of all ages. Those featured at the piano were Ann Quinn and Marla Ray, Dakota Terry, Audrey Sipler, and Judy (Bush) Pleskac, who wowed the audience with her original arrangement of "America, the Beautiful." Vocal solos or ensembles included Charley and Stephanie Overbay, Bridgette (Quinn) Long, Larry Brumwell, Fred Finke, Rich Jespersen, Marla Ray, and Nick Fry who accompanied himself on the autoharp while singing a hymn his father wrote. Nick also entertained everyone with his harmonica. Jai Baumann chose a piece by Mozart for her first stage appearance on the violin. Dancers included both tap and ballet groups from the Studio of Dance & Arts (Havre), featuring Audrey Sipler as "Alice," the lead dancer. Both Daisy LaBuda and her younger sister Harley performed beautiful interpretive dance solos. Shirley Martin (grocery store Shirley) was back with her Charlie Daniels clog dance to everyone's delight. Multi-talented Dakota Terry played the clarinet solo that earned her a superior rating at State Music Festival, and she was joined by Grace Finke and Marla Ray for a clarinet trio. Rounding out the variety was Dee Pribyl reading this year's winning poem in Ellaraine Gerson-Locke's poetry contest for Big Sandy high school students: "Compare Us," penned by Jaylyn Cline.

Many thanks to all who performed so very well and to Eric Schwarzbach for being such a terrific stage and lighting technician. Again, thank you to all who came and supported the new library with your donations. It was a very fine evening in our little town.
