Bear Paw Meanderings

Big Sandy is an amazing place! While most small towns in this area are retrenching and drying up, Big Sandy is making progress to become larger and have more amenities that will attract even more people to call this home.

Think about the new library on Main Street. The Bakery that the Stiles family made out of an old and unused building, the remodeling of the Mint, the great school system, our own grocery store. Big Sandy Activities and maybe most important of all for a small and isolated town, a medical center with a care center combined with a state of the art clinic.

And we still have a newspaper.

And we have Kamut and the oil barn and their salty snacks just getting off the ground.

All those things make Big Sandy very unique among other Montana small towns.

Now, in a brilliant move the town of Big Sandy has joined with the Big Sandy School District to push for a new swimming pool for the town. The old pool is about shot and this new pool will be much better for elderly and handicapped and will be used by the school much more. It is important that kids living in and around prairie potholes most of their lives, learn to swim and that could be a very good function of the school.

Matter of fact whoever thought of putting the town and the school together to get this pool project going was brilliant. I think I know who first came up with the idea and it was, well, brilliant!

So, hopefully people will vote to make a swimming pool a reality. That vote will really be for making our community even better and who knows what might come after that?

For now, I can only say, what a community!
