Disappointing weekend for the Lady Pioneers

One of the two games for the weekend was postponed due to Covid. That left the Pioneers with only a tough matchup against Lady Sugarbeeters, rated 10th in the state on their home court. The Sugarbeeters came out playing at a very high level proving their spot in the state power polls. The Lady Pioneers gave them all they had but found themselves down by 18 points, with several of our girls in foul trouble at

the half.

The girls continued to play their hearts out in the second half and never gave up. Eva Wagoner led the way for the Lady Pioneers, with 13 points shooting 55% from the field. Lainey Terry added 7 points. Amy Gasvoda and Keira Galbavy added six points each, and Angie Sant rounded off the night with 5 points and 5 offensive rebounds. Although the Lady Pioneers did not get the victory, they showed a lot of heart by fighting until the buzzer went off. They may not have come out on top of this game, but their hard work continues to prove their commitment to building a competitive team!

This week will be filled with basketball as the JV girls take on the Havre C squad on Monday at 4:30. Thursday, the Lady Pioneers hit the road to take on DGS, and then Saturday, the girls look forward to another shot at the Fort Benton Lady Longhorn on our home court this time around. On February 1st in Big Sandy will play CJI in a make-up game, and the Hays Lodge Pole game is scheduled to be made up on February 8th in Hays Lodge Pole. The Lady Pioneers appreciate the community support and look forward to seeing you all at the ball games!
