Barracudas Bring Home Bronze From Chester

The Big Sandy Swim Team took third place honors at the Chester Invitational Swim Meet, held on June 25th & 26th. The Barracudas scored 448 points to earn their third place finish. Second place went to Columbia Falls with 497.5 points and Chester took top honors with 518.5 points.

Henry Merrill had an admirable weekend in the lanes, taking first place high point honors in the 9-10 boys division with 42 points. He captured first place finishes in all three of his individual races-the 50m free, 100m free, and the 50m fly and also contributed to two more first place finishes in the 100m free relay and the 100m medley relay.

Darrell Sunchild also had an outstanding weekend in the pool, receiving second place high point honors in the 13-14 boys division with 41 points. He placed fifth in the 200m IM, first in the 100m free, fourth in the 100m back, and third in the 200m free.

Mackenzie Werk did "the work" to swim away with third place high point honors in the 9-10 girls division, scoring 38 points. She took first in the 50m fly, second in both the 100m free and 100m IM, and contributed to two more second place finishes in both the 100m free relay and the 100m medley relay.

Daisy LaBuda also posted a strong showing with 37 individual points, as did her sister Harley LaBuda with 29 points. Astrid Ketchum made another big contribution to the team with 30 points, along with D'Aree Sunchild and her brother Dolan Sunchild who scored 32 and 27 points, respectively. Cassia Butler with 26 points, Eyon Sherburn with 22 points, Sienna Butler, Joseph Demontiney, and Thea Merrill all with 19 points each, Levon Myers with 13, T'Gan Ketchum with 12, Lila Butler with 11 points, Raea Pansch with 9, JaiLeaina Parker with 8, Eden Pansch and Heather Sherburn with 6, and Velia Demontiney with 2 points rounded it out for the team.

The Barracudas will take a break from competition over the 4th of July weekend, but will be back in the lanes at Columbia Falls the weekend of July 9th and 10th.
