    Erik Sietsema|Aug 23, 2023

For a couple of weeks in April, an abandoned dog, likely a German Shepherd/Yellow Labrador mix, caught the attention of the Big Sandy community. The puppy spent his days walking up and down the highway, chasing mini vans and pickups looking for its owner. More than a few locals put out food for him and spent time trying to lure the puppy away from the highway. Brittany told me she has 14 girls out for volleyball this year, "which is a smaller number than what we are used to. I would say the average is usually 16. The good news is, there will be a lot of playing time for everyone, which...

It's that time of the year! Friday Night Lights are back! I love fall and the start of football season. I was excited to sit down with Larry Jappe, the head coach of last year's state champs, the Big Sandy Pioneers! I visited with him during Junior High Football Practice. It was a morning practice for them, the weather was wonderful, and the football field was green. I wanted to know after coming off of a state championship last year what it was going to be like this year. Larry said, "I've...

  • Thoughts withZoe

    Zoe Merrill|Aug 23, 2023

The Ford mechanic had left for vacation leaving my red Ford Explorer sitting in front of the Mountaineer. So what I heard was peopl...
