    Jessica Ophus|Sep 15, 2021

In lieu of the traditional Harvest Dinner, this year the ladies of the PCW at St. Margaret Mary's have decided to host a Harvest Festival instead. The Harvest Dinner has been hosted by the gals for over 40 years and has been the main fundraiser for the group. The funds raised help to provide scholarships to high school seniors, as well as to purchase necessary items for the Church and to provide other donations around the community. This year's event will be a joint fundraising effort with the...

  • Lawrence B. Green 1929-2021; A man of pebbles

    Steve Sibra|Sep 15, 2021

Someone once criticized me, telling me, everything with you is a story. And I think he was right – but I don't take it as a criticism, I see it as acknowledgement of a gift, to be shared. This is my story of Lawrence Green. Lawrence Green was nothing much, really. He was diminutive, he did not stand out in a crowd, unless the crowd happened to be a brawl, in which case, Lawrence was probably knocking the stuffing out of someone twice his size. Some would like that about Lawrence. But he did n...

  • Patching Cracks

    Erik Sietsema|Sep 15, 2021

I am currently reading a book on speed reading. I have tried to learn speed reading in the past, but have struggled with the discipline and practice elements of the process. An interesting element of the process set for in the book I’m currently reading is the idea of a set of “pre-reading” disciplines. This isn’t like warming up before exercising, but rather is more like surveying the path in front of you. The first is to decide why you are reading the book or article in the first place. What do you hope to accomplish?Having decided on that...

  • United Methodist Women looking for members

    Ann Denning|Sep 15, 2021

UMW stands for United Methodist Women. We meet once a month at the Methodist church. We have a great time, a time that is interdenominational. This means we welcome anyone to attend and join us in worshiping God and donating to many charities in Big Sandy and Montana. We donate money to the fire department, the food bank, a women’s rescue home in Great Falls, a women’s prison, and disadvantaged children at Christmas. We provide mittens, hats, scarves, and socks. We also send several boxes for individual children with clothing and a toy. If we...

  • Pioneers take down Savage 43-6

    Carolyn Mosier|Sep 15, 2021

Pioneers won the toss and chose to receive. They got off to a slow start and had to turn the ball over to the Savage team who managed to move quickly downfield, however, the Pioneer defense stopped them at the door and took over the ball at the 20-yard line. Unfortunatly, offensively the Pioneers couldn't pull it together and were forced to punt. It wasn't until the end of the first quarter that things started to click for the Pioneer offense when Cooper Taylor danced his way past two defenders...

  • Lady Pioneers win in 3 against Box Elder

    Carolyn Mosier|Sep 15, 2021

By Carolyn Mosier The Lady Pioneers won their first regular season match against the Box Elder Lady Bears, winning all three sets. Coach McKenney was pleased with her team’s performance overall and had this to say. “We served well with 15 aces. Eva Wagoner had a great game getting six out of those aces. We had a pretty good defense for the most part. With so many free balls, we only had 21 digs which is still fine. Angie Sant had a good game offensively with five kills. It was nice seeing her being stronger at the net for us.’ “The second...

  • Sintaluta Continued from last week

    Anne Denning|Sep 15, 2021

When I return to Saskatchewan, I enjoy the peace and privacy of my backyard. Most houses in Sintaluta have large backyards with beautiful gardens. Mine is huge, with bushes and large trees surrounding it and a willow plop right in the middle. In nice weather, it’s wonderful to sit out there in the morning, having my breakfast in my PJ’s cocooned by nature. Friends who come to visit enjoy a picnic under my willow tree. It’s like having your own park. The dogs and I go for walks down my street and then down a rural lane. I am a block from farmlan...
