  • Learn Skateboard Etiquette and Try It!

    Sep 13, 2023

There has been some discussion lately on proper etiquette for skateboarding. There is a sign right in the skate park. Read it, but I also did some research on Surfertoday website. 1.The skate park is just that, for skateboarders. It was not designed for sliding down. The truth is children have been stuck in the bottom of the bowl. If you’re not skating, stay away--It’s dangerous to stand in the middle of the action. It is also annoying to have someone blocking riders’ tricks and maneuvers. If you’re a spectator, keep a safe distance. 2.Begin...

  • Environmental Services Week

    Jessica Ophus|Sep 13, 2023

September 10-16 is Environmental Services Week. While Environmental Services (EVS) may sound like a part of the EPA, it is blanket term used to include a facilities housekeepers, maintenance, and laundry departments. EVS is the unsung hero of any building, but especially important in a hospital setting. EVS at Big Sandy Medical Center is responsible for cleaning and surface disinfection, waste management, laundry, pest control, safety and security, maintaining the flooring and fixtures, grounds management, including mowing the lawn and...

  • Civic Duty affects Mountaineer

    Zoe Merrill|Sep 13, 2023

Civic Duty is a sacred responsibility! One we should all hold in high regard. Those Civic Duties include voting, paying taxes, obeying laws, and jury duty. You may notice a slight difference in the paper this week. We found out on Friday that Leslie had Jury duty on Monday morning. Yes, that’s the day the paper goes to print. I let the Havre Daily know that it would be late getting the paper to press because I was doing it solo. I needed to call an InDesign expert a couple of times because I was totally lost. And Erik Sietsema was enormous h...

  • Patching Cracks

    Erik Sietsema|Sep 13, 2023

In the Bible’s account of Israel’s journey to the promised land from slavery in Egypt, the people reached the bank of the Jordan River and prepared to enter and conquer their new home. Before entering, they sent in a dozen spies to check things out. When they returned, the report they gave was mixed. On one hand, the spies went on and on about how rich and bountiful the promised land was. They affirmed God’s promise that it was a land flowing with milk and honey. On the other hand, the majority of the spies reported that the inhabitants of th...

  • Abollishing Child Sex-Trafficking on the Internet

    Jaihven Baumann|Sep 13, 2023

Many children or young adults believe that the internet is a great place to find opportunities such as modeling. But, they won’t know what is a genuine offer and what is phony. A girl may think that somebody thinks she is gorgeous, and they may tell her that they are going to make her a big star…famous! Little does she know that if she goes through with agreeing to meet and audition, she may never live a normal life again… On the other hand, this is the reality: she may not become the big star she thought she was going to be. She could end u...

What an action-packed game from the beginning with the Pioneers winning 36-28! The Big Sandy Pioneers hosted Denton, Geyser, Stanford, and Geraldine Co-op (DGSG) Wildcats at home this past weekend, and it was a tight, well-fought battle. The Pioneers received the kickoff and ran the ball the whole first series, with great runs and yardage from Cooper Taylor. After a couple of penalties, one from the Wildcats and one from the Pioneers they finished the drive with a pass from Jake Darlington to...

  • Lady Pioneers win twice

    Sep 13, 2023

The Lady Pioneers had a great weekend of volleyball! They had some very hard-fought battles and overcame some adversity to come out on top twice. The first game they had was September 7th hosting Box Elder. The Lady Bears of Box Elder were first to serve, scoring a quick 3 points. Eva Yeadon was the first to serve for Big Sandy, and they went on a run! With some great serves, some nice hits by Eva Yeadon and Keria Galbavy, and a tip by Jai Baumann, the Lady Pioneers went up 11-3. After a couple of good digs and hustle plays, the Lady Bears...
