We had a couple swimmers DQ with goggle issues, a couple swimmers forget to dive in or THOUGHT they false started, and a swimmer get a stomach bug halfway through, but all and all it was a good weekend...

The 6C district playoffs were last weekend and the ladies fell to Box Elder in a battle of four sets and then went on to face North Star and lost in three sets. The Chinook Sugarbeeters hosted and decisively won the tourney. The McDonald’s, principals at Box Elder, came over for dinner and the Cubs game on Frida...

The ladies will travel to Chinook on Thursday morning to play the first match in the District 6C East tournament. They will play Box Elder at 10 a.m.. The Pioneers came up against one of the top teams in the state on Friday. If not for the first quarter we could have had them. The Geraldine - Highwood Rivals came out rockin' and had three scores by the end of the first quarter. Any other team would have rolled over, but not our Pioneers. The boys came out in the second quarter and Laurence Allderdice punched one in the end zone. Then one minute later we got the ball back and Brock Proulx passed to Laurence Allderdice for the touchdown and a...

By Fred Watstein There were all the great components of an awesome football game Friday. Soggy field, chilli flowing, nip in the night air, fire truck sirens blaring all the makings of a great game. Only thing not great? The final score of 44-22 Valier Panthers the victors. The Big Sandy squad played a great game. Three things I noticed on Valier's team that makes them tough to beat. For starters they have a 6'6" receiver who is always open due to his height. They also have two of those running...

The Lady Pioneers visited the Highline twice last week. On Tuesday to take on the Chinook Sugarbeeters and on Thursday the CJI Hawks. Both trips they enjoyed the smooth ride of the new cruiser bus. According to coach Cline the ladies could have used a little more focus. "We are definitely capable of beating the Hawks, but we struggled with mental toughness and consistency." "We are a young team and are going to learn from our mistakes, and do our best to make corrections this week in practice...

The men in Purple had more total offense and lead 20-6 at the half and hung on 28-26 at the end of the third quarter but the end result is not one of fairy tales. 41-47. One could rattle on about injuries or a young squad coming of age, but looking at the stats we should have won. The stats just didn't happen when we needed them to. Offense stats we got Weston Allderdice putting up 320 yards rushing and Jordan Schwarzbach adding a rushing touchdown making total offense 353 to Northstars 344 and...

The Lady Pioneers had a successful week of volleyball hanging tough with the North Star Knights and winning over the Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds. The ladies are building momentum over the season. Big Sandy Team Stats versus North Star (Lost 3-0) 25-18, 25-12, 25-17 Assists (8) Jasmine Genereux 3 Kills (10) Jaylyn Cline 7 Blocks (13) Jaylyn Cline 7 Digs...

The bulk of the highlights belonged to Sunburst Friday as Lane Lerum threw four TD passes and Michael Buckley scored three times to lead the Sunburst Refiners over the Big Sandy Pioneers 47-0 at Sunburst during the Refiners homecoming. The Pioneers have now been tested and reminded what it is going to take to be competitive this season. An early flu has hit and Big Sandy's team stamina could have been affected. With the curse of being undefeated now eradicated the Pioneers can focus on putting...
