    The District 6C-East recently released their All-Conference first and second teams. Big Sandy senior Molly Kain was selected to the second team earning All-Conference recognition for the first time. Kain provided senior leadership to a young team and helped them find more and more success as the season wound down.     The Big Sandy Pioneer volleyball team finished the season this past weekend at the District 6C-East tournament, finishing fourth. The Pioneers began to put things together the last few weeks and earned a first round sweep of the Box Elder Bears 25-16, 25-20 and 25-22 to begin tournament play.     The Big Sandy Pioneers football season came to an end Saturday with a hard fought 41-24 defeat at the hands of the Geraldine/Highwood Rivals. The Rivals jumped out to a 16-0 lead after the first quarter of action.     The Big Sandy Pioneers will head to the District 6C-East tournament this Thursday and Friday in Gildford with a little momentum on their side. The Pioneers moved up one spot in the standings with a 3-1 win over the Box Elder Bears Saturday night. Junior Alana Ostrom led an effective offensive attack that saw the team record a season high 32 kills in the match. Ostrom collected 12 of those.     The Big Sandy Pioneers couldn't overcome the Sunburst Refiners passing attack Friday night. Big Sandy's defense stood tall early trailing only 6-0 entering the second but the Refiners put up 26 in the second and 22 more in the third to pick up a 61-13 Northern C six-man football win over the Pioneers.     The Big Sandy Pioneers were awarded their first conference win earlier this season when Hays/Lodge Pole forfeited the scheduled match in Hays. This past weekend the Pioneers earned their second win on the court defeating the Thunderbirds 25-20, 25-15 and 25-20 .     The Big Sandy Pioneers began the second half of the 2015 football season in Valier where they faced the Panthers in a Northern C six-man contest. Valier responded to a first quarter one yard touchdown run by Big Sandy's Weston Allderdice with 49 straight points to best the Pioneers 75-26.     The Big Sandy Pioneer volleyball team dropped a four set match with the Box Elder Bears and competed in the Chester mis-season tournament over the weekend.     Young football fans will have the opportunity to exhibit their football skills when the Big Sandy Rotary Club hosts the annual NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick competition on Chili Feed night Friday, October 9th.
