    It has been a hot and muggy August in the gym for the Lady Pioneers. After watching the American Beach Volleyball duo of Kerri and April battle it out in the heat of Rio, inspiration was in no short supply.     The Pioneer football team had a bye week to start the season so they took the opportunity to go watch the neighboring Box Elder Bears take on Hot Springs. The Bears finished second in all of Class C Six-Man football a season ago and Hot Springs is always a powerhouse. The boys witnessed a shellacking that could strain any players positive attitude.     The Big Sandy Barracuas swim season came to a dramatic end on Sunday in more ways than one. The team finished with their highest ranking in the state ever with the Roaring Lion fire providing a striking backdrop for team photos.     The Big Sandy Barracudas took 4th place overall with 32 swimmers competing at the Western Divisional Meet this past weekend. The Barracudas finished behind the Bitterroot Swim Team, Conrad and Columbia Falls. This is very impressive, considering that Big Sandy has the smallest school enrollment of any team in the Montana Federation of Swimmers.     The Big Sandy Barracudas took 5th place overall with 32 swimmers competing at the Fort Benton meet this past weekend. The Barracudas competed in their largest meet this season, with approximately 400 swimmers taking to the pool. Bringing home high point honors for the Barracudas was Brady Pleninger with wins in the 100 M free, the 100 M back and the 50 M free.     The fifth and sixth grade basketball season came to a close last weekend capping off a great six weeks. From 4:00 to 5:30 four days a week the gym was an anthill of activity with 25 kids fine-tuning their basketball skills. Both the boys and girls team were fairly young and had half their respective team mate up of new comers. The girls had 15 girls- seven 6th graders and eight 5th graders.     The Big Sandy Pioneer basketball season came to end at the District 9C tournament in Havre following a pair of losses by both the boys and girls teams.     The Big Sandy Pioneer girls and boys basketball teams have concluded their regular season schedule and now turn their attention to the District 9C Tournament. The girls finished the season 1-13 in conference play and 1-17 overall but gave every opponent their best effort for 32 minutes.
