  • Green Acres

    Tyler Lane|Apr 17, 2019

Keep an eye out for Grass Tetany Grass tetany is a metabolic disease of cattle associated with grazing lush, green pasture. The condition is caused by low blood concentrations of magnesium, which is a required mineral for cattle. When pastures are growing rapidly in the spring, grass may not contain adequate amounts of magnesium to meet requirements. High potassium and crude protein concentrations found in rapidly growing forage complicate the grass tetany issue by interfering with the absorption of magnesium from the rumen. Magnesium...

  • Getting By

    Janell Barber|Apr 17, 2019

Every day we are faced with making decisions. They range from minor to major decisions. Some people can make decisions quickly while other people need time and information to make a decision. I recently attended a training which included a simple method to use when making a decision. I hope you find it as a useful tool if you are faced with a decision in the near future. It really helps to write it out and include the individuals who the decision will impact, such as family members, including kids. Here are the steps: 1. Identify the options....

  • Craig Edwards Captures the Beauty of the Golden Triangle

    Zoe Merrill|Apr 10, 2019

The Great Falls Art show was important to Craig because, "I want to share what I've done. The picture I put in the judging show wasn't because I wanted to win, but I wanted to stand out. The reason it is showcased in my room is because it is striking, because there is somebody who wants that graphic on their wall. A piece like that, might keep somebody from coming in because it says it's not about animals." The crow picture was taken on their farm. "When I see something that I find interesting,...

"The collars turn on April 1," Madel said. "So, it's a good time to fly on the Front and try to locate them." • Getting by

    Janell Barber|Apr 3, 2019

April is National Stress Awareness Month With life’s demands, we all experience stress. Stress is how our body and brain responds to those demands. How each one of us deals with stress is different. Some people deal with stress effectively and/or may recover more quickly than other people, even if they have experienced the same stressful event. • April is Spring

    Bruce Auchly|Apr 3, 2019

‘Tis spring, the time when a young male’s fancy turns to, well, not football. Humans are such an odd lot. Animals – under water, on the ground or in air – simply are driven by the survival of their species. We fret about home loans, school choice or health insurance. Wild creatures do not. Of course, those critters don’t rush to the hospital when sick, play music when sad or have barbeques on the Fourth of July. Animal behavior is largely driven by daylight length. And right now, we are gaining daylight by leaps and bounds, at least a minute...
