  • F.E. Miley sings the sounds of Christmas

    Zoe Merrill|Dec 11, 2019

For some, the FE Miley School program has been six years in the making. For others, it was their first one. For me, it is always my favorite concert. It could be that I love Christmas, or it could be I love children playing instruments they are still learning on. I also love how the little girls dress up and feel so pretty. I love watching the littlest coming out on to the stage, scared and shy, looking for their mom or dad, or anybody they know. See their faces light up when they find them, and...

PASSWORDS Using strong passwords, not using the same password for everything and changing passwords often are some of the most important ways to keep your online accounts from being hacked. Most of these points you have heard before but check them out to see if there are any new ones or need a reminder. - Create passwords with at least 8 characters (at least 1 number, 1 letter and 1 special character) which are easy to remember but not easy to guess. A phrase or sentence is a good way to help remember it. The more characters, the more secure....

Mount lights by stringing through hooks or use insulated sta...

  • Thanksgiving is Here

    Zoe Merrill|Nov 27, 2019

We all have our traditional Thanksgiving meal, and usually our regular thanksgiving prayer. We thank God for our family, for the food on our table, and pray for our family, which isn't with us. An attitude of gratitude is minimized to one meal. I interviewed more members of our community about what was their favorite things. We often take for granted what we are indeed thankful for without thinking about what blesses we have in our lives or give it a second thought. Usually, everyone had to...

  • Big Sandy CSI Stroll Updates; Check out the vendors at the bazar

    Zoe Merrill|Nov 27, 2019

It’s Thanksgiving, and we’re celebrating with food. The Christmas Stroll Saturday morning is nothing without it food vendors. Paula Amsbaugh will have a table to sell her Mimi’s Mustard and Dip. Paula said, “I got the recipe from a friend years ago,” but she has “tweaked” it. She’s been making the mustard for about 20 years, but it was only a couple of years ago she started to try and sell it. It took her over a year to get all the paperwork completed. It was difficult to get started because she didn’t know where to start. Although the reci...

  • Breaking traditon, spend Thanksgiving in Paris

    Judy Yirsa|Nov 27, 2019

Last year my husband and I were in the early stages of planning a family vacation for the following summer when we came across shockingly low-priced flights from Great Falls to Paris. The only catch was that the departure was on Thanksgiving Day. Being that the trip was within two months, we jumped at the opportunity and booked right away. Although we were personally battling colds, Chris and I could not help but notice how effortlessly we could get around with both our girls, then ages 3 and...

I found an interesting article from Canada on stretching hay supply with straw. The article is located at https://www.canadiancattlemen.ca/2017/11/06/stretching-your-cattles-hay-supply-with-straw/. I asked Dr. Megan Van Emon (MSU Assistant Professor, Extension Beef Cattle Specialist) to review the article to see if it is a good fit for Chouteau County producers. I have included Megan’s comments. Travis Peardon, the regional livestock specialist in Outlook, Saskatchewan says straw has its limitations when used in beef cattle diets. Straw does n...

If so, here are some conversation starter questions for all age—do not forget to involve the kids. • If you could have named yourself, what name would you have picked? • What do you think is the hardest thing about being a kid? • If you could eat only one food on this table for an entire year, which one would it be? • If you were an animal, what would you be? • Would you rather not shower for...

  • "A Seussified Christmas Carol"- Opening Night

    Kalee Rose|Nov 27, 2019

November 22nd and 23rd, the high school hosted its annual play. The auditorium was absolutely packed with friends and familiar faces, along with folks I've never met. It turned out to be quite the production! Hard work from everyone and great acting made this modern twist of " The Christmas Carol" an absolute gem. I don't know if I have ever appreciated theater as much as I did Friday and Saturday night. This play takes place during Christmas, in a Suessified setting. The four young narrators...

Lily Winderl likes to paint. Horses are her forte. She loves drawing horses. "I start most of my pieces with a basic coat, a then I add a vibrant color. I do a lot of bright colors. I've been working with pastels for some time." But she will also tell you she paints with vibrant colors when she's happy. It's joy she is trying to express.
