Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, the Friends of the Missouri Breaks Monument (FMB) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) sponsored the 1st Missouri Breaks Triathlon. The event used the Missouri River as the backdrop. It was designed to be a family or group event just to celebrate. As you approach the pool you can hear lots of children's laughter, finding it surprising that only eight children are swimming. Thirty-two children took lessons this summer at the Big Sandy Swimming pool, but for each session, there were eight children and four teachers. Malta game warden Ben Morin responded to a complaint of signs being shot on Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Area 8 near Nelson Reservoir on July 6, 2018. Upon arriving, Warden Morin found multiple WMA and parking signs had been shot, and there was a significant amount of litter, spent shell casings, and glass left in area of the damaged signs. Everybody should know by now that the Montana Army National Guard used two Chinook helicopters to rescue Big Sandy kids who were attending Montana Wilderness School of the Bible. The Dearborn River southwest of Augusta flooded and destroyed the road making it necessary to close the road and evacuate campers and staff who were stranded.
